Abstract: У статті в культурологічному ракурсі дослідження висвітлено специфіку та історико-культурні детермінанти інтерпретації фаустіани та її концептів у поемі І. Сельвінського «Читаючи Фауста». Виявлено концептуальну комплементарність фаустіани, що репрезентована як символ європейської культурної традиції, значущість хронотопу культурної пам’яті, множинність варіантів і аксіологічну варіабельність концептів знання, самоствердження, кохання / жіночого начала, віри та перевертневості, зумовлених актуалізацією проблем етичного знаку знання, відповідальності людства за відкриття нових гносеологічних горизонтів, збереження цінностей гуманізму за умов зіткнення ідеологічних систем та індивідуалізацією систем ціннісних орієнтацій у контексті культури 2-ї пол. XX ст. Відзначено специфічність комічного ракурсу втілення концепту віри та його резонування з аксіологічними координатами культури 2-ї пол. XX ст., відповідне до прогностичного потенціалу фаустіани.
Description: Background. In recent years valuable “tension”, multidirectionality of globalization and transcultural vectors of cultural being, essential shifts in the valuable hierarchy of humanity mainstream the need to study the presentation specificity of valuable searches at the level of artistic reflection. Faustiana emerged as a symbol of valuable, in particular future, orienting points of a Man, in the history of European culture, whose conceptual multicomponentity served as a factor of framing into the various axiological contexts of historical and cultural epochs. However, at the level of scientific reflection, the problematic study of Faustiana as a phenomenon of European culture is conditioned by the lack of methodological tools, their embodiment into various forms of art, and discretion due to the lack of study of many of its samples, including I. Selvinsky’s poem “On Reading Faust”. The actual lack of mastery of Ukrainian humanitaristics work and its resonance with the problematic “nodes” of modem culture determine topicality of the article. Objectives. The objectives of this study are revealing peculiarities of modification of Faustiana, Faustiana mythologema and Fausttheme concepts in I. Selvinsky’s poem “On Reading Faust”. Methods. So far, there have been used instructions of the cultural method, in particular, the comparative and historical method, and principles of art study analysis. Results. In I. Selvinsky’s poem, the comprehension of the eternal problems of spiritual existence and the radical changes in the value orientations of the individual and humanity, actualized by the Second World War, is inextricably linked with the problem of preserving spiritual values. Their timely significance reflects cultural memory chronotype as a universal integrity, formed by references to the personalities of prominent figures of European culture, epigraphs from the Faustiana samples from the time of the Northern Renaissance to the XIXth century, and its representation as a comprehensive phenomenon of European culture. This is also evident in the connection of I. Selvinsky’s work with J. F. Goethe’s Faust - in the author’s stated reflexivity about the majestic epic, its functioning as a linguistic hero on a symbolic-allegorical, substantive-conceptual and substantive-“revelatory” levels, in numerous quotations, allusions, epigraphs to paintings of the poem. I. Selvinsky’s interpretation of Faustiana distinguish its conceptual complementarity preservation, transfer of Faustiana mythologemas to picturesque auras in virtually each of characters plurality and options plurality of fable archetype - motive of agreement conclusion with the devil. This reflects the ambiguity of the Faustiana collision in terms of the individualization of axiological foundations in paradigmatic dimensions of Contemporary time culture. The factor in the modernization of Faustiana conflict is its resemantization - the representation of knowledge as an antihuman means of geopolitical struggle and the destruction of communism in the name of civilization through the atomic bomb invention, as well as the introduction of an anonymous image of the people - the embodiment of the collectivity origin and carrier of communist ideology values. The concept of knowledge in I. Selvinsky’s poem is embodied as the determining factor of the future and existence of humanity, means of features “decoding” of the concept of self-affirmation in the figurative aura of heroes, their true moral supports, an axiological marker that denotes differences in the understanding of the essence and purpose of knowledge. At the level of artistic communication, it initiates a perceptual beginning, at the conceptual and meaningful level it creates an atmosphere of collision of culture time spaces, value systems of historical and cultural epochs and personal value orientations, a harmonious individualization of the worldview of a person, attributable to the culture of 2nd half of XXth century'. The image of a negative beginning is represented as a concentrated embodiment of the catastrophic consequences of loss of the belief in the highest value of man, which is paradigm for the New age, and at the same time the reflection of geopolitical conflicts of the era, the horror of Nazism in the poem. The basis on the principles of humanism, higher spiritual values and an emphasis on the perniciousness of their loss marked the presentation of a meaningful pluralistic concept of love/feminine principle. A kind of heroes’ “mask” of the poem determines the conceptual significance of characters’ interconvertibility - factor of characters’ resemantization and shaping effect of “dropping the facade” - revealing their true moral orientations. The concept of faith, which appears in the poem as a “screen” of the crimes of Nazism, as one of the hypostases of the female principle and at the same time as conditional, declaration of a need to find new axiological directions of man and a new image of personality denoted by the comic color, becomes ambiguous in the poem. Conclusions. I. Selvinsky’s poem “On Reading Faust” keeps prognostic value potential of Faustiana and definitely involves paradigmatic foundations of coming postmodern culture that constructs an ambiguous, pluralistic image of a new person in the struggles of systems of value orientations, which undergoes an ironic revision of all spiritual instructions as the poem is predefined by updating the importance of knowledge, scientist’s responsibility forming ethical position of the individual and at the same time leveling and rethinking eternal values subject to ideology systems collision.
