Abstract: Gender equality is a critical component of the security sector and a top social justice priority. Significant progress has been made in recent years in implementing legal norms to ensure equal opportunities for men and women in this important area. The introduction of a gender-sensitive approach in security sector curricula and training strategies is one of the most important achievements. This includes addressing gender aspects of military operations, women's participation in peacekeeping missions and their representation in governance. However, there are challenges for the future that require our attention and action. First, it is important to continue to support and expand legal mechanisms that guarantee equal conditions for career development and promotion for women in the security sector. To address issues of gender-based violence and harassment in the military, clear procedures must be established for responding to such cases, and support for victims and accountability for perpetrators must be ensured. Creating an enabling environment where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities and can freely realize their professional potential it is also necessary. Ukraine will overcome the challenges on its path to stability and security. Gender equality in the security sector is not only a matter of justice but also a strategically important aspect, that will significantly improve the sector's capacity and effectiveness.
