dc.description.abstractThe article examines the processes of transformation of ideas about Presence and the role and content of denotation, which took place in Western ideological tradition due to the Reformation, the Enlightenment and the science of modern times. The results of the «revolution of meanings» are defined in formation of two matrix approaches to technology of denotation the context of the understanding of Presence. The corresponding ideas of understanding of the symbol and its role in the state building process with access to the range of freedom and legal symbolism, the role of society, the state and vision of future are analyzed. The role of Christianity and separately the Protestantism is emphasized in formation of the symbolism of the Western world and its projections in legal thinking, identification processes in Ukraine discussed and its symbolic value accessory in connection with Western civilization identity defined.-
