Information culture: the Ukrainian way into the digital era

Abstract

The issue of the information space is one of the most relevant problems of social and cultural importance, which raises the question of the formation of the information culture of society. Today, the technological dimension, represented by mass media has already become an integral part of information culture, and mastering it is also a task for those who seek the fullest and most effective integration into the global socio-cultural environment. Adhering to the principle of consistent application of general scientific, philosophical and special methods and approaches, the authors attempt to carry out a philosophical reflection on the peculiarities of the national information culture of the national society on the way to its digitalization and integration into the world cultural space. It is emphasized that today it is no longer possible to talk about an information culture that is detached from modern media, communication tools, digital means and ways of collecting, processing, creating information, etc. The degree of digitization of information culture is proposed to be understood as an indicator of its development. The current state of information culture in Ukraine is seen as a reflection of the spiritual, socio-economic and political problems of the national society. Contradictions between the information culture of Ukrainian society and Western standards are shown. It is concluded that digitalization processes directly contribute to the formation of a new information and communication basis for both intra-societal and intercultural interaction.
